Unlike Revolutionary and Napoleanic wars and the Great War, most French Generals of WW2 are remembered for their incompetence but who do you think was most competent among them?

Where's Henri Giraud and Alphonse Juin??? I forgot about them, though I felt I was missing someone. Henri Giraud stormed Algiers and took Francois Darlan prisoner, giving one prong of the Torch Landings a safe landing. He then led his experienced guerilla forces into Tunisia, and was the only Allied Power that stood up to Operation Fruhlingswind. Alphonse Juin, one of the "most loyal" French generals, refusing to give up Africa to the Vichy French. He and his Goumiers also made the most progress out of any unit in breaking the Gustaf Line

He wasn't a general in second world war. He was both a theorist and the commander-in-chief of Vichy.

He wasn't a general in second world war. He was both a theorist and the commander-in-chief of Vichy. Really Vichy has army?

He was both a theorist and the commander-in-chief of Vichy. Really Vichy has army? Yes, they defended Syria, Dakar, FNA, and the Zoné Libére.

Yes, they defended Syria, Dakar, FNA, and the Zoné Libére. That is the colonial army, I meant in mainland and by that logic shouldn't Hitler be given credit for victory in France.
