the main contributor to the British war effort was the USA. To starve Britain is ti sink American ships. But there were no American merchant ships involved before they joined the war.

look up Arsenal Of Democracy. FDR was spoiling for a fight, and he was already sending over American planes. The USA were pretty much in the war then, FDR just wanted to look good going in, unlike Wilson.

British ships carried American lend lease material, so there was no provocation to USA if the ship was sunk.

Luftwaffe has capability to atleast disable the navy if RAF was defeated which wasn't because of wrong strategy. And don't underestimate the U-Boats, if they were given enough resources, they would have starved Britain. If the U-Boat war went unrestricted, then the Americans would surely join the war and doom the Reich to oblivion. America was actually following a neutral policy, where it would not join the war unless provoked, though secret material aid was sent to Britain

People think that Operation Barbarossa is a blunder. I don't think so. Britain was putting up a stiff resistance and there was this non cooperative Japan and a weak Italy. I think that Yugoslavia Campaign before Barbarossa was the blunder. What do you all think? Italy was not that weak, it just have incompetent generals as Rommel said," Gentlemen, you fought like lions but you were led by donkeys" and "German troops has amazed the world and you have amazed the Germans".

Main problem was logistics, which wouldn't have been attained due to long distance of supply routes and defeating Greece was necessary to protect Germany's southern flank.

Rommel said that later in the war. You know those defensive camps Graziani built in Egypt? Well, O'Connor's forces strolled in barely firing a shot.
